2^nd CRC retreat

The retreat CRC in Hannover was dedicated to review the current progress of the CRC projects and define the research strategy for funding period two. As an external expert and reviewer, we invited Prof. Stefan Radl Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). He also gave an inspiring guest lecture on “Beyond classical CFD-DEM: forgotten challenges and new tools”.

A poster session was organized by the doctoral researchers and the postdoc, which was used for intensive cross-project discussions and to initiate further joint publications. The board of the CRC presented an analysis of the current status of the CRC, which led to the formulation of corrective actions. In smaller, groups further measures for public and scientific outreach were identified. Finally, the last day was dedicated to sharpen and adapt the CRC research profile for the coming onsite review in spring 2024.
